Here we’ve provided a series of frequent parent and family questions to help navigate bringing your future Bulldog to campus.

Can parents or other people come to orientation?

Yes! Family members will have their own orientation sessions throughout the expereince. You will meet campus leaders who will help you prepare to best support your student during college. 

For overnight orientation, Financial Aid Sessions will happen during the Friday morning sessions. For single-day orientations, there will be a block of time dedicated for you to meet with Financial Aid in your individual schedule.

Do parents stay in the residence hall with their student for overnight orientation?

No, only students stay in the residence halls overnight. There is student specific programming that takes place during the evening hours. There are several hotels available in Athens, here are a few of our preferred:

Can parents attend the advising/academic session?

Due to laws and guidelines outlined in FERPA, parents are not allowed to attend the advising session with their students. See more information regarding FERPA.

How are housing and tuition payments made?

Housing and tuition can be paid online here and through the students myPortal account under financial aid. Parents are welcome to attend the financial aid session with their students, and any questions pertaining to tuition and aid may be answered at that time. Can my student have a car on campus?

Campus parking is free to students, however, students must fill out a parking pass to register his or her vehicle each year that he or she attends Wesleyan. Students also must have a pass for every vehicle they plan to park on campus. Parking is on a first come, first served basis.  

What campus safety resources/programs are in place?

Tennessee Wesleyan has 24/7 campus security. Students are equipped with an app that has access to a button to call campus security immediately.  

What is the campus parental notification policy about emergencies?

Tennessee Wesleyan has a campus notification system that parents are welcome to sign up to receive notifications. Information is sent to students about how to sign up for notifications within the first few weeks of classes. 

What is the visitation policy for students in the residence halls?

Guests are welcome at any time, but after 10 pm, should be in common spaces such as the lobby of the residence hall.  

If my student has a disability, how will the school accommodate?

It is up to the student to inform any professors/faculty of any disabilities. Students are to contact the Office of Disability Services to discuss any specific needs, and speak with Dr. Patsy Ging, at (423)-746-5237. She can also be reached at
