Is orientation required?

Yes, students must attend orientation before classes begin. This includes all general sessions, meeting with financial aid, and for Freshman, the advising session.  

Are parents or outside guests allowed to come to orientation?

Yes! There is a specific family track while you attend your TWU sessions. 

Can parents and guests stay in the residence halls during orientation?

No. Only students stay in the residence halls overnight. For parents and family members, there are several hotels available in Athens.

I have a disability, what should I do?

The orientation team has experience working with students with disabilities and making accommodations. If you feel comfortable, please let your Admissions Counselor know prior to your orientation, otherwise just let your OLs know. You can also let them know any accommodations that will make you feel more comfortable.

What happens at orientation?

During Orientation, new students will meet many members of the University community, learn what it means to be a Bulldog, finalize their financial aid, and more. Freshman students will meet with a faculty advisor to set up their semester schedule. Transfer students will be contacted by their faculty advisor to select classes.

Why is orientation important?

Orientation is important because it provides incoming TWU students with the tools and resources they need to be successful.

TWU prepares students with the transformative experience and to be well-rounded leaders who make a positive impact on the world.
