Exercise Science

The Exercise Science curriculum prepares students for a variety of careers and graduate programs in exercise physiology, fitness, wellness, strength and conditioning, and exercise testing and prescription. Within this major, you may select an emphasis in physical education, pre-physical therapy or exercise science.

Physical Education
The Physical Education emphasis serves those seeking to teach and coach at the elementary and secondary levels. If you wish to be licensed to teach Physical Education in grades K-12, you must also complete 35 additional hours of professional education courses as listed under the Education major in the academic catalog.

You will take courses including:

  • Movement Education
  • Activities for Children
  • Curriculum Development in PE

Pre-Physical Therapy 
The Pre-physical therapy program prepares students for graduate study or a career in physical therapy. This curriculum is designed to provide students with the requisite knowledge to apply for graduate physical therapy studies.

You will take classes including:

  • Nutrition for Sport and Fitness
  • Developmental Psychology
  • Epidemiology for Exercise and Sport Sciences
  • Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries

Exercise Science
