BIOGRAPHY

Rev. Dr. Jodi Helbert is the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program Director at Tennessee Wesleyan University, where she is also a full professor in the Social Work major. Dr. Helbert is a Board-Certified Diplomat (BCD) in Trauma-Informed Psychotherapeutic Care and certified through SAMHSA as a trained trainer. Dr. Helbert is a member of the American Academy of Christian Counselors (AACC), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), as well as North American Association of Christians in Social Work (NACSW), the International Consortium of Social Developers (ICSD), International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), and Phi Alpha, the international Social Work honor society. Dr. Helbert is the advisor of the Phi Alpha | Chi Tau chapter at Tennessee Wesleyan. She has received numerous accolades. She was honored by Social Work Today magazine as one of the Top Ten Deserving and Dedicated Social Workers in the Nation. She has been named Social Worker of the Year and Social Work Educator of the Year by the National Association of Social Work (NASW), and was twice named Advisor of the Year by Phi Alpha. Dr. Helbert also received the Public Service Award for Distinguished Citizenship, and in 2013, she received the honored appointment of Kentucky Colonel from the Governor of KY. This award is based in recognition of years of outstanding community service. Dr. Helbert received the Tribute to Women award from the YWCA in the Empower category.

Dr. Helbert has served on two national taskforces for the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and worked to develop the curricular guide for specialized areas of Social Work practice involving substance use disorders and infant and early childhood mental health and developmental neuroscience. Dr. Helbert has a passion for servant leadership. She serves members of the recovery community by providing pro bono addiction counseling. She also serves on various boards of directors within the community, and volunteers her time and resources in the development of life-changing service-learning projects. Dr. Helbert has founded academic programs and honor society chapters, leading them to international award-winning renown. She is a successful grant-writer and organization developer. Dr. Helbert is an ordained Reverend.
