Assistant Athletic Trainer

Tennessee Wesleyan University, an NAIA institution in southeast Tennessee, is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time position within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report to the Director of Sports Medicine and assist with the coverage of varsity and junior varsity sports as assigned. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the care and prevention of athletic injuries and administering first aid, work and travel with both men’s and women’s intercollegiate teams, and perform tasks as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. This is a 10-month salaried position, paid over 12 months, with medical benefits offered, continuing education, dues and licensure fees covered. Salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master’s Degree preferred. BOC Certification required. TN State Licensure (or eligible) required. Current certification in Emergency Cardiac Care required.

Degree Completions and Graduate Admissions Counselor

Reporting Relationship: Associate Director of Admissions

Department: Admissions

Responsibilities: Positively promote the University to prospective students and their families. The position requires local travel, including some nights, weekends and overnights, to various schools, businesses, and events throughout the region. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Generate names of prospective degree completion and graduate students through events, community meetings, college fairs, and networking events.
  • Counselor for Degree Completion and Graduate programs: Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Business Administration, Criminal Justice Leadership, Management Excellence, Master of Science in Education, Master of Science in Sports Leadership, and Executive Graduate programs. As well as providing additional support to Allied Health degree completion and graduate programs as needed.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to promote these programs.
  • Promote Tennessee Wesleyan in a manner that encourages prospective graduate and degree completion students to apply and visit campus
  • Plan and coordinate recruitment travel by territory in conjunction with the Associate Director of Admissions
  • Work with prospective students and their family from the inquiry stage through matriculation
  • Maintain working knowledge of other college majors, programs, and organizations
  • Develop a rapport with other constituents including program directors, TWU staff and faculty, and other community organizations and businesses
  • Review applications, initiate personal contact with prospects through telephone calls, electronic mail, letter/postcard follow-up, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date files for prospective students
  • Extensive data entry using the university database system
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Director of Admissions

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required and experience in higher education preferred. Candidate must have strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills and the ability to speak to large groups. The candidate should also possess strong computer and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with a prominent level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Candidates must handle information confidentially and professionally. The individual must be able to work independently, as part of a team and be goal oriented.

Faculty Openings

Social Work Field Education Director Position Assistant/Associate Professor of Social Work

Tennessee Wesleyan University is seeking applicants for the Tenure-track faculty position of Field Education Director in the Social Work Program. This position is designated Faculty [75%] with Social Work administrative responsibilities [25%]. The Faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Social Work is dependent upon academic instructional experience. The Field Education Director is a leadership position and works in tandem with and under the purview of the Social Work Program Director. Faculty report to the Social Sciences Department Chair.

Some specific responsibilities of the Field Education Director include, but are not limited to:

  • Student recruitment/advising.
  • Visit field sites and maintain relationships with Field Instructors.
  • The recruitment, maintenance, and review of community agencies for student field placements.
  • The training of field instructors and their agencies.
  • The development and promotion of field placement processes.
  • Field practicum oversight including liaison responsibilities.
  • The evaluation of field student learning and field setting effectiveness, including meetings.
  • Program monitoring, analysis, and assessments.

The Social Work Program offers a BSW degree. The successful applicant must have the ability to teach in two or more Social Work content areas. We are seeking candidates who are committed to innovative teaching, and we seek to attract a culturally and academically diverse faculty who value working with a diverse student body. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching/mentoring undergraduates, leadership skills, strong interpersonal skills, and administrative experience, as well as demonstrate the potential for graduate instruction.

Qualifications: A minimum of Master of Science in Social Work, at least 2 years Post MSW practice experience with a State of Tennessee Social Work license at MSW or license eligible. Highly valued experience is prior teaching in a CSWE accredited program.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Music

Tennessee Wesleyan University invites applications for a visiting faculty position in music with additional duties teaching applied voice.

This person will teach music theory, aural skills, and maintain an applied voice studio. The person must be able to develop and maintain professional relations with regional music educators and church musicians.  They should promote continued recruitment of music majors and minors.  The person must show evidence of achievement in the musical classroom as well as in private voice instruction.  An ability to relate well to students and to inspire them to grow musically is essential.

The Goodfriend School of Business at Tennessee Wesleyan University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Business Administration. This position requires at least 18 hours in management and/or business analytics. The desired candidate will have a master’s degree in the field, but a terminal degree is preferred. The candidate will be required to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Goodfriend School of Business. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the traditional day program, the Management Excellence degree completion program, and the graduate business programs.

This position will require the successful candidate to advise students, serve on TWU and Goodfriend School of Business committees and be supportive of the goals of the university. Being a team player is critical to the candidate’s success in the Goodfriend School of Business.
