Studying at TWU prepares you for the career you want with experience employers are looking for
Program Description
Working together with particular content areas, the secondary education major at Tennessee Wesleyan prepares students to teach grades 6-12 in mathematics, history, English, chemistry, or biology.
Secondary education students combine a degree in their content areas with secondary education training. They are immersed in schools throughout the program, from the first semester to student teaching in their final semester.
The Tennessee State Board of Education approves Tennessee Wesleyan University programs in teacher education.
Career Opportunities
There is high demand for teachers, particularly in the areas of secondary math and science. Students work to be licensed in their content area (history, math, etc.), but many are able to take endorsement tests in multiple content areas. To date, 100% of our secondary education major graduates have been placed in schools!
