World Languages and Cultures
The B.A in World Languages and Cultures, incorporating language and cultural studies, provides students with an international perspective on the world. This major, coupled with a study abroad requirement, will allow students to experience linguistic and cultural immersion firsthand, thereby providing students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary in an increasingly diverse workplace. An internship and a course dedicated to the acquisition of intercultural competency or empathy will enhance the students’ abilities to apply their knowledge in real-world settings.
French Focus
Choosing the French focus allows students to study a global language while building strong foundations in grammar, literature, composition, and cultural studies. This track immerses students in the artistic and intellectual traditions of the French-speaking world and prepares them for opportunities in international business, diplomacy, nonprofit work, and cultural exchange.
Spanish Focus
The Spanish focus equips students with one of the most valuable language skills in today’s job market while developing their abilities in grammar, literature, composition, and advanced communication. Students explore the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world and graduate ready for careers in education, healthcare, business, social services, and many other fields where bilingual expertise is in high demand.
