Melanie Amburn
Assistant Professor of Education
Bio
Melanie H. Amburn earned her Ed.S. in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Tech University with a focus on building literacy and instructional leadership in school administrators. She currently serves as Chair of the Department of Education, Assistant Professor of Education and Elementary Education Program Director at Tennessee Wesleyan University. In those roles, she provides academic and administrative leadership for the department’s teacher preparation programs, faculty, and students.
She is responsible for advancing high-quality, standards-based educator preparation programs that prepare candidates to become effective and reflective teachers of elementary, secondary and special education. She establishes partnership agreements with school districts to ensure professional collaboration and district placement for teacher candidate field experience and student teaching experiences. She has been the recipient of the Curriculum Leadership Award from TWU.
