Bio

Stacy James Swafford is a native of Harriman, TN in Roane County. She graduated from Harriman High School and Roane State Community College before finishing her bachelor’s degree at Middle Tennessee State University. After 6 years working at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Y-12 plant, she relocated to Cleveland, TN. She received her MBA from UT-Chattanooga in December 1998. After a few years working in healthcare and finance, she accepted a full-time position at Tennessee Wesleyan University. As a part of the PhD program at UTC, her dissertation focused on “Factors Affecting Retention of First-Time, Full-Time Freshmen Students at Higher Education Institutions within the Appalachian College Association.” She received her PhD in May 2017.

Stacy’s family includes husband, Kevin, and their favorite young adults: daughter Isabel, and her husband, Logan, and son Charlie, a TWU alum. There is always an assortment of dogs and cats in the family as well.

The Swaffords are members of First United Methodist Church in Cleveland. They love quoting favorite movies and sitcoms, hiking, sports, and almost anything that involves being outside. Stacy is a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. Everyone else in her family cheers for the wrong team.
