Tennessee Wesleyan Nursing Programs Receive Positive CCNE Accreditation Review

Tennessee Wesleyan University’s nursing programs have received a positive recommendation following a recent accreditation review by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Over a three-day visit, a CCNE evaluation team reviewed the TWU-FSN Nursing Program’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs as part of the ongoing accreditation process. The visiting team recommended that both programs be found compliant with CCNE standards.

The evaluation team highlighted the passion and dedication of TWU’s nursing faculty and community representatives. Students also shared positive feedback with evaluators, emphasizing that faculty are highly supportive and invested in their success while still intensely challenging them in the classroom and clinical settings, allowing students to feel well prepared to enter the field by graduation.

Community partners similarly praised the preparation of TWU nursing graduates. One community representative shared that their organization always hires TWU graduates first, reflecting the strong reputation of the University’s nursing programs throughout the East Tennessee region.

Grant Willhite, Vice President for Academic Affairs, asked the campus community to recognize Lisa Vesser, Kellee Vess, and Todd Miller for their leadership of the nursing program and their work throughout the accreditation review process, as well as the nursing faculty and staff whose ongoing commitment contributes to the program’s success.

Final acknowledgement of accreditation reaffirmation is expected following approval by the CCNE Board in May 2027.

This outstanding accreditation review of Tennessee Wesleyan’s nursing programs shows that the program prepares students to become healthcare leaders who serve communities throughout East Tennessee and beyond.
