Serving those who've served...

TWU Veterans Student Services is here to support our Veterans, service members, spouses and dependents as they make their journey into higher education. Our dedicated staff offers assistance and guidance to active duty service members, Veterans, Reservists, Guardsmen and family members on the utilization of VA educational benefits.

Will Nation serves TWU as the Coordinator of Veterans Services, as well as a Success Coach. Himself a veteran, Will is ready to help TWU veteran students make the transition to higher education success, and is equipped to provide student support. See more about Will below. 

 

Veteran Student Lounge

As a student,  you’ll have access to a lounge  for our Veterans that includes coffee, snacks, a TV, tables, couches and chairs located in the Colloms Campus Center. It is your spot to relax, take a breather and to prepare for class. This space also provides a central gathering point where we can provide support and mentoring for one another.

Meet Will Nation

After more than 15 years serving in the U.S. Army, Will made the decision to transition out of active duty life. When he was approached about the possibility of a Veterans Affairs position at TWU, he was excited at the opportunities it presented for himself and his family. “For us, it’s an opportunity to move closer to the place we consider home, and to be closer to our families as well,” said Will. It’s due in part to the response and support he received as a student at TWU while a member of the military that he was excited to give back to the veteran community on campus. “The skills and education I earned at TWU helped place me into a position where I had more options because of my degree. I could have stayed enlisted, but instead, I applied and was accepted to the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School. This gave me additional opportunities as far as Army schooling and put myself and my family in a better position.” Now he hopes to lend those same opportunities to veterans and their families at Tennessee Wesleyan.

     Member Copy 4 of DD 214 
     DD 22-1995 Change of Program/Change of Institution 
     -For transfer students that have previously utilized GI BILL benefits 
     -Must be submitted to VA by the student
