Fitzsimmons joins Peace Corps
Tennessee Wesleyan University is excited to announce that one of their students, Finn Fitzsimmons, will be joining the Peace Corps at the beginning of 2026!
For Fitzsimmons, the decision to join the Peace Corps was rooted in a lifetime of watching compassion and service in action. His mother, alongside her best friend, founded a nonprofit dedicated to helping people experiencing homelessness find housing, employment, and a sense of community. Growing up around that work, Fitzsimmons constantly witnessed the power of empathy and service.
“I have always been aware of the privileges I have had with two loving parents, a safe home, and food on the table. That awareness pushed me to want to dedicate my life to service,” he explained.
Now, Fitzsimmons is preparing to take the next step in his journey of service. After his graduation from Tennessee Wesleyan in December, Fitzsimmons will begin his work as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Albania in January. His focus will be on organizational and youth development, areas where he hopes to build strong connections and empower communities.
For Fitzsimmons, this opportunity is more than just a new adventure. It’s a continuation of the values instilled in him from childhood, values that he not only heard about but also witnessed firsthand.
“I am incredibly excited to give back, build connections, and carry forward the values of empathy and community that inspired me from the very beginning.”
