US News: TWU Among Best in South
Tennessee Wesleyan University has been named one of the top regional colleges in the South by U.S. News & World Report for 2026, continuing its tradition of excellence in higher education. TWU earned the #9 position in the “Best Regional Colleges – South” category, rising from its #10 position last year. The constant growth of Tennessee Wesleyan solidifies its reputation as a leader in student success and academic distinction.
Along with its overall ranking, TWU received significant recognition in categories that highlight both value and opportunity. The university was ranked #13 in the nation for “Best Value Schools,” making it the highest-ranked best value institution in the state of Tennessee. TWU also earned the top spot in Tennessee for Social Mobility, a distinction that underscores the university’s commitment to providing affordable, accessible education.
“These rankings affirm what our students, alumni, and community already know—that Tennessee Wesleyan offers an education that is both high in quality and high in value,” said Dr. Tyler Forrest, president of Tennessee Wesleyan University. “We are proud to be recognized for the ways we equip our students not only to succeed academically, but to thrive personally and professionally.”
The recognition from U.S. News & World Report reflects Tennessee Wesleyan’s focus on small class sizes, personalized learning experiences, and a mission-driven approach to higher education. With a dedication to preparing graduates for lives of purpose and leadership, TWU continues to be a place where students are challenged, supported, and empowered to make a difference in their communities.
“U.S. News’ Best Colleges remains a reliable resource for prospective students and their families as they navigate the college selection process,” said LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for Education at U.S. News. “With over half of the ranking factors dedicated to student outcomes, the rankings and editorial content provide vital data, college advice and informed reporting to every student pursuing higher education.”
As Tennessee Wesleyan celebrates this honor, the university looks forward to building on its momentum, continuing to expand opportunities, grow innovative programs, and uphold its long-standing commitment to academic excellence and student success.
