Tennessee Wesleyan College Associate Professor of music Keith Wheeler has been awarded the 2015 Exemplary Teacher Award from the United Methodist Church. This honor is bestowed by the Division of Higher Education of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. Wheeler received this award in recognition of his contribution to education and to the TWC community.

“It is an honor to serve on the faculty at Tennessee Wesleyan and to be recognized in this way,” Wheeler said. “I am so thankful to teach at an institution with such a strong spiritual heritage.”

In addition to serving as a professor, Wheeler also holds the positions of Chair of the department of fine arts and Director of Music Education Studies. Outside of TWC, Wheeler serves as a part-time pastor at a local church. He says TWC allows him to combine his passions for teaching and ministry into one and credits the TWC faculty for creating a caring atmosphere of learning.

“It is a blessing to serve with such a talented and caring faculty,” Wheeler said. “Being a professor and a pastor combine my passions into ministry.  What a tremendous opportunity I have to teach students not only musical content but also lessons about living.”
