SUMMARY:Nursing Pinning Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Tennessee Wesleyan University is excited to share that Jim Winer has been chosen to speak at the 2026 Spring Commencement ceremony. Mr. Winer will also be receiving his honorary doctorate in recognition of his impressive career and service to TWU. Architect Jim Winer is owner and founder of Make3 Architecture/Planning/Design in Atlanta\, Georgia. Mr. Winer started Make 3 in 2011 as an outgrowth of a firm formerly known as Menefee and Winer Architecture\, where he was a founding principal. His career has included the design of educational\, institutional\, athletic\, religious\, and custom residential projects\, working with some of the most prestigious firms in Atlanta.    As the son of a university engineering professor\, Mr. Winer has maintained a lifelong interest in higher education. He received both a B.S. and M.Arch degree from Georgia Tech in Atlanta. At Georgia Tech\, he has served on the College of Design Advisory Board\, the Dean’s Strategic Planning Committee\, the Ansley Park Zoning Committee\, and the Saint Luke’s Atlanta Property Committee.   In 2005\, Mr. Winer was asked to provide his professional opinion of the College as an architect and planner. He was also asked to produce a campus master plan that included recommended improvements in the near term\, in 10 years\, and in 20 years.   Over the next two decades\, Mr. Winer has worked closely with multiple TWU presidents\, administrators\, and facility leaders to significantly enhance the beauty and functionality of the campus. Some of his most significant contributions include his input for the renovations of Elliott Hall\, the design and construction of Wesley Commons\, and the redesign and construction of the main campus entrance and parking lot. His signature project with perhaps the most lasting impact on Tennessee Wesleyan University was the design and construction of the Colloms Campus Center\, which was completed in 2019.   Mr. Winer serves on the Board of Trustees at Tennessee Wesleyan. Mr. Winer has served as Chairman of the Board two times. He is the current Chair of the Student Life Committee and serves on the Executive Committee. He is the past Chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. He also served as Chair of the Presidential Search Committee.
