Health & Wellness

Medical Services

Tennessee Wesleyan University has a health services partnership, joining with McMinn Primary Care to provide needed services to TWU students. McMinn Primary Care has three locations, Etowah, Madisonville, and the most convenient to the University, on Washington Ave. in Athens, less than a mile from the TWU campus. Students have access to all three locations.

Students have access to basic care, such as physical exams, general checkups, and prescription writing, at no cost. Additional services, such as flu and strep tests, x-rays, various testing, and blood work are also available at a discounted rate, or through the student’s insurance carrier.

The offices are open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m and on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Students can scehdule an appointment by calling McMinn Primary Care at (423) 745-6610.

Starr Regional Medical Center is located minutes from campus. They provide urgent care services including 24-hour Emergency Room facilities.

Counseling Services

The years you spend in college will be some of the most formative of your life, filled with exciting and scary changes. You will learn how to balance work with a social life, form new and closer relationships, develop personal and career goals, and gain your independence.

Tennessee Wesleyan provides its students with a variety of options to fit the students' health and wellness needs. Depending on your needs, you may meet individually with the Vice President for Student Life or the Chaplain. When necessary, students are provided with three free visits to Humana Counseling Services.

Students may contact the Student Life Office at 423-746-5216 or look at the TWU app under Health And Wellness to find the Humana link and make an appointment.

TalkCampus App Support

TalkCampus is a 24/7 service, which is entirely anonymous and peer-to-peer. Students download the app on their smartphone, login for free using their TWU email, and connect with peers who offer support. The purpose of a service like TalkCampus is to provide for student needs in an environment that is more comfortable for them.

Thunder Fitness Center

All students have access to the Thunder Fitness Center. Here you'll find a variety of fitness equipment to help you stay fit and healthy throughout your Bulldog journey.
