SouthEast Bank Supports 4 TWU Students with Scholarships
Story by Ashley Copeland
A generous $30,000 donation by SouthEast Bank is helping four students on their pursuit
of higher education this year.
The SouthEast Bank Scholars program recognizes and rewards academic excellence by funding education expenses to qualified students within the communities it serves.
“SouthEast Bank, through its current scholarship program, has a long-standing relationship of giving to the university spanning roughly 15 years,” SouthEast Bank Senior VP Matt Mason said. “SouthEast is committed to supporting education and it starts right here within the local community. We are proud that our roots run deep in McMinn County.”
To our students, the SouthEast Bank Scholarship is an opportunity to focus on their education without worrying about the cost.
Amber Scapellato, Class of 2022
“The relief I received when I heard I had won the scholarship brought me to tears.
It was like winning a free car! Knowing I wasn’t going to have to work two jobs to
afford college was the best relief someone could get. Ultimately, this scholarship
will give me more opportunities to succeed. I now plan and can afford to get my master’s
following the completion of my bachelor’s.”
“Thank you to SouthEast Bank – what you have guys have given me has relieved a weight off my shoulders and has helped me jump start my life to succeed.”
Hunter Patton, Class of 2023
“I am extremely grateful to SouthEast Bank for their decision, and most grateful to
my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me the ability and motivation to always
be the absolute best version of myself. I appreciate the opportunity I have been given
from SouthEast Bank and intend on performing the best I possibly can in my studies
and my future endeavors.”
Savannah Rymer, Class of 2020
“The SouthEast Bank Scholarship has allowed me to pursue my dreams of learning the
communications world while attending a small, homely university that has gifted me
true relationships and excellent learning. I am proud to call TWU my home and am very
thankful for SouthEast Bank’s generous donation to my future.”
Jake Rymer, Class of 2021

to use my degree to help small businesses in the Athens area. I am truly grateful
for the opportunity the SouthEast Bank Scholarship has provided me to pursue my dreams!”
