Inspired Gifts: The McSpadden Scholarship
Tennessee Wesleyan University relies on the gifts of generous donors to accomplish our mission of preparing students for lives of service and success. The Inspired Gifts series looks at recent gifts which accomplish specific purposes, often inspired by donors’ family, careers, passions, and more.
Athens native Lem McSpadden’s parents owned McSpadden Furniture Company. The former
furniture store was housed in what is now Miller Hall, home to TWU’s Dental Hygiene
program and residence hall.
Lem was greatly influenced by his Aunt, Elda McSpadden Walker, a 1933 Tennessee Wesleyan graduate. Lem, and his wife, Donna, endowed a scholarship in her memory for students in the TWU Dental Hygiene program.
