Transfer admission

We’re excited you are interested in transferring to Tennessee Wesleyan! A transfer student is any student with 15 or more semester hours of college credit. Anyone may transfer to Tennessee Wesleyan, and there are no prerequisite courses. Transfer applicants must have a cumulative transfer grade point average of at least 2.00 from all postsecondary institutions attended. Ready to apply? Go ahead, you've got this!

Step 1: Application documents

  1. Apply online or submit a hard copy of the application
  2. Submit all official college transcripts from all undergraduate coursework, regardless of dates of attendance.
  3. Submit final transcripts from high school. These will not be used for admissions purposes, but all Tennessee residents must include them in the application.

Please submit all documents to
Tennessee Wesleyan University
Director of Transfer Admissions
204 E. College St.
Athens, TN 37303

Upon receipt of application and college transcripts, the Registrar's Office will evaluate coursework to determine transferable credits. Students will receive a copy of the evaluations.

Students who transfer from 2-year accredited institutions will be granted credit up to 60 semester hours. A maximum of 90 semester hours may be transferred from all institutions. The last 30 hours of course work must be taken at Tennessee Wesleyan University.

Tennessee Wesleyan University has articulation agreements (equivalency tables) for advanced placement and area colleges, which are available for download and print. TWU also accepts Advanced Placement credit when an official score report is received and minimum score requirements are met.
