By: Mary Maddox

On Monday, October 23, students from the Goodfriend School of Business at Tennessee Wesleyan University visited the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. The students who took part in the trip are in the Financial Investments course at the University. Students in this course are pursuing a degree in Business Finance. This experience has given the students real life expectations while pursuing this career.

“What an awesome experience being “on the floor” of the New York Stock Exchange with the Goodfriend School of Business students at TWU. This has been an unbelievable experience for these students and I cannot believe we were given this opportunity,” says Dr. Martha Maddox, Associate Dean of Goodfriend School of Business.

Visiting the New York Stock Exchange was the highlight of the trip. The students had the opportunity to visit many landmarks around New York City in their free time. Students visited Ground Zero, the Freedom Tower, the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and the Statue of Liberty.

“The New York Stock Exchange was an experience of a lifetime, and I am honored to have taken part in it,” says Megan Jones.

The students were all thankful they had this opportunity. Haley Mitchell says, “36 hours, 37,622 steps, 1 state, millions of memories, and an experience of a lifetime!”
