James D. Schiavoni
Chair of the Department of English and Modern Languages; Professor of English
Dr. James Schiavoni was born and raised near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Having grown up during the halcyon days of Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, and Mean Joe Green, he remains a dedicated Steelers fan, but more importantly a fan of Medieval and Renaissance literature as well as science fiction and fantasy. Following a B.A. in English from Duquesne University, he attended a year of law school, then returned to the study of English at University of Cincinnati (M.A. 1988) and Vanderbilt University (Ph.D. 1992). He splits his time between the small town of Madisonville and the city of Nashville, hometown of his lovely wife Mary Anne, of whom he is also a big fan.
