The Ethical Practice of Cultural Competency and Cultural Humility

This workshop, approved for 3 CEUs, engages participants with the concepts of cultural competence and cultural humility. Through discussion and hands-on activities, participants will be encouraged to explore and reflect upon how personal values, biases and assumptions can impact the quality of interactions between service providers and individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. A goal is to provide information, insight and knowledge that will broaden the concept of cross-cultural development in ethical social work field practice. Participants in the workshop will have the opportunity to explore the benefits and limitations of both cultural competency and cultural humility and identify strategies to enhance their cultural competency.
