
Mathematics
The department of mathematics offers a BA or a BS in mathematics. Teacher licensure in math grades 6-12 is available with the Bachelor of Science degree. The math department at Tennessee Wesleyan promotes an understanding of various mathematics concepts, as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills. This program also prepares students for a variety of graduate school options, including advanced mathematics or actuarial mathematics.

M 241 History of Mathematics
This course will cover a small sampling of the important ideas and events in the history of mathematics, from the clay tablets of the Babylonians to the beginnings of calculus. Students will examine mathematics itself, using both primary sources and modern interpretations; however, time will also be spent on the people and cultures responsible for its development.
