Bachelors in Early Childhood Education

TWU’s Early Childhood Education Degree Emphasis

As an early childhood education student, you will learn about human growth and development, with a focus on children from birth to age eight. Classes will focus on the psychological and cognitive influences on learning and observe and analyze ways the social and cultural environments affect learning.

TWU’s early childhood education degree will begin your path as an educator and deliver the skills and knowledge needed to not only set your students up for success year after year but to also set your career up for prosperity and longevity.

TWU’s Early Childhood Education Program Classes

Within the bachelors in early childhood education program, you will take engaging and relevant classes including, but not limited to:

Developmental psychology
Cognitive psychology
Social problems
Math for elementary school teachers
Child, family and community studies
Instructional technology
Language and literacy development
Math, science and social studies methods
Survey of exceptional children

In addition to your bachelors in early childhood education classes, you will also spend a full semester student teaching in a local early childhood education center, providing you with hands-on practice and experience working with young children and enhancing your teaching skills. Upon completion of this early childhood education degree, you will be eligible for Tennessee state teaching licensure in early childhood education, preK-3.
