Personal Property Insurance
Tennessee Wesleyan University encourages all students, especially residents, to consider a personal property insurance for items like game stations, tablets/computers, smartphones and bikes. National Student Services, Inc. is independent of TWO, but is a national leader in this specific market. If you are interested in finding out more about their insurance policies, deductibles and premiums, please visit www.nssi.com. Resident students will find brochures in their residence hall room at the beginning of the fall semester.
International Student Health Insurance
Effective August 1, 2016, health insurance coverage is mandatory for all international students who are in F-1 or F-2 status and enrolled in classes at Tennessee Wesleyan University (TWU).
F-1 and F-2 students enrolling in classes at TWU will receive automatic insurance coverage through International Medical Group (IMG), regardless of their course load. The charge for the insurance coverage will be added to the student’s invoice for tuition and fees. It will be listed separately on the invoice and will be billed on a semester basis. The coverage period for the mandatory insurance is August 1, 2016 to July 31, 2017.
The following are coverages provided within the mandatory insurance:
- Plan Maximum - $250,000 per illness or injury with a lifetime maximum of $5,000,000.
- Deductible - $100 per illness or injury
- Coinsurance - No coinsurance
- Treatment period maximum – 60 days for chronic conditions
- Athletics – optional add-on rider that is included in mandatory coverage
- Policy specifics – located on attached sheet
A student may opt-out of the mandatory coverage if they can provide proof of insurance each semester (prior to registration). In order to opt-out, the coverage must be comparable to the mandatory policy coverage.
The opt-out form is available in the TWU Business Office and must be returned to that office. You may also download the opt-out form here.
