English & Modern Languages

As an English and modern languages student, you will take courses blending critical reading and textual analysis with the development of writing skills as well as courses that emphasize the study of language. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of English studies, you will acquire expertise that is valuable in both intellectual and practical settings. To meet the challenges of a global world, English majors are encouraged to minor in a second language.
Upon completion of a minor in French or Spanish, you may earn teaching certification in your target language.

The Tennessee Wesleyan Department of English and Modern Languages offers four majors:

• Bachelor of Arts in English
• Bachelor of Science in English
• Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing
• Bachelor of Arts in International Studies
